Comcast worker dies on the job

A New Jersey Comcast worker was killed on the job on the morning of Feb. 5. The man suffered from the fatal injury in Glen Ridge. According to a spokeswoman for the electric services company Public Service Enterprise Group, two electrical workers found the Comcast worker after they were sent to the area to try to fix a power outage.

PSE&G says they dispatched one electrical worker to the area after receiving several complaints from customers about an outage. After arriving on the scene, the worker determined that there was a blown fuse and asked for a second employee to come help investigate the cause. While the two electrical workers were checking the area, they discovered a Comcast worker on a ladder that was leaning against a utility pole.

According to reports, the Comcast worker appeared to be unresponsive when he was first found. While medical personnel and police officers were traveling to the scene, the two electrical workers reportedly used their rescue pole training to begin bringing the man down. Police helped to carry the man down from the ladder, but he was quickly pronounced dead. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office and Glen Ridge police began an investigation into the fatal incident.

Regardless of the outcome of the police investigation, the family of a worker who receives a fatal job injury may file a claim for workers' compensation benefits. A lawyer may be able to help a family file their claim and ensure that they are seeking the maximum amount of compensation. If a third party was responsible for the worker's death, a lawyer may be able to help the family to file a third-party claim.
